Westgate Gators Swim Team

Our goal is for young swimmers to develop a love for the sport, improve aquatic skills, as well as learn about the importance of teamwork and the principles of good sportsmanship. The coaches’ philosophy is for the swimmers to have fun as they develop stamina and fitness. Our trained, certified, and experienced coaches are dedicated to making swimming fun, while building youngsters’ endurance and improving aquatic technique.

Team History: Ann West (and her three siblings) were on swim team in 1966 and the team was already established. Their swim coach was Steve Fox (he was tough and made quite an expression on them!). In the 1970s, Westgate combined with Cloverdale Cabana and were called the Cloverdale Westgate Dolphins, as part of the Mission Oaks Aquatic League. In 1986, parents voted to rename as the Westgate Gators and joined the Valley Aquatic League. Her two sons, Chad and Lucas, also enjoyed swim team. Brian West served as Cabana president.
