The Westgate Cabana Club (WCC) has been a great place to swim, meet your neighbors, and host parties since 1962.  The Pool Rules help everyone safely enjoy the Club while respecting other guests and the municipal laws.

GENERAL RULES

  1. Members and their guests must check in at the gatewatch desk upon entry.
  2. Children under 14 are not permitted in the club without an adult.
  3. Guest passes are required for non-members entering the facility regardless of whether they intend to swim, except for infants less than one year of age. Maximum 6 guests per membership per day.
  4. No pets are permitted on the premises.
  5. No amplified sound permitted without earphones.
  6. Proper swim attire is required in the pool.
  7. WCC is not responsible for lost or stolen articles. Please leave your valuables at home and check the lost and found regularly.
  8. No sports balls (basket, soccer, volley, tennis, etc.) are permitted in the WCC facility. Beach balls and Nerf-style balls are permitted. Out of courtesy to our neighbors (and our fence) no hitting or kicking balls or other toys against the fence.
  9. No smoking anywhere on the premises and within 15 feet of the building.
  10. Long hair must be tied back in a ponytail, braid, or swim cap.

FOOD AND PARTIES

  1. Absolutely no glass, ceramic, or other breakable items are allowed within the facility. No exceptions. If you inadvertently bring a breakable item, please keep it in your car or in the pool office.
  2. Alcohol is permitted, but please drink responsibly.
  3. Use designated recycling containers for cans and plastic bottles.
  4. Food should be consumed in the picnic or grass areas, not on the deck or near the water. Please clean up spilled food or beverages.
  5. The covered patio with tables near the entrance is available for party rental. Members should not set up or occupy areas on and in front of the stairs to the covered patio to allow ample space for entering and exiting this area. If a party is scheduled (sign will be posted), then please do not use this picnic area.
  6. Picnic tables elsewhere in the facility and BBQs are on a first-come first-serve basis. If you use the BBQ area, please clean the grill, empty the ash from charcoal BBQs and tidy up afterwards.

LIFEGUARDS

  1. The lifeguards are responsible for enforcing the pool rules and maintaining safety at the pool. Members must follow lifeguard instructions at all times.
  2. No one is allowed in the pool during Open Swim unless a lifeguard is present or “No Lifeguard on Duty” sign is posted.
  3. Lifeguards will call an Adult Swim at 45 minutes after each hour. At this time, the Lifeguard(s) will leave their post and fulfill other duties. No one under 18 years old is permitted in the pool during Adult Swim, except young children 6 months to 3 years old who may be held by an adult. Teens aged 14 and older may swim laps during Adult Swim with a lifeguard’s permission.

SAFETY

  1. Never swim alone.
  2. Children under the age of 14 years are not permitted to use the pool without a parent or guardian.
  3. No running or rough play on the pool deck or in the pool.
  4. No flips (front or back), twists, or jumping in backwards. No diving in the shallow end. Please watch where you jump.
  5. No jumping on to kick boards/floating devices.
  6. If you are not sure of your child’s swimming ability or if your child relies on swim supports (water wings, vests, floaties, etc), you are required to be within arms reach of them at all times in the water.
  7. Water guns are permitted at the discretion of the lifeguard and as long as water stays in the pool.
  8. Inflatables (including tubes and rafts) no larger than 42″, are permitted at the discretion of the lifeguard. Gatewatch and/or lifeguards may check size and reserve the right to deny usage. For the safety of all swimmers, members must remove unattended inflatables from the pool at all times. If the pool becomes crowded, lifeguards will direct that inflatables be removed from the pool.
  9. No Inflatables during divided pool (lessons/practice).

HEALTH AND HYGIENE

  1. Please shower before entering the pool, especially after doing sports or heavy perspiration.
  2. No one with currently active diarrhea or who has had active diarrhea within the last 14 days will be permitted to swim (CA Pool Code).
  3. Parents need to monitor the bathroom needs and health of their children to minimize pool closures due to accidental fecal contamination, which is a serious and preventable disruption. It adds unnecessary expenses to pool operations since the pool must be shocked with chemicals and the pump must run continuously overnight. The pool is closed to all swimmers for the rest of the day. In order to prevent such accidents, please encourage your child to use the restroom during Adult Swim breaks.
  4. For health and safety reasons, infants less than 6 months old are not allowed in the pool or wading pool.
  5. Swim diapers are required for children who are not potty trained.
  6. No one with an open wound or who is suspected of having an infection, cold, skin eruptions, sores, or any other contagious disease, will be permitted to swim. Parents should monitor children for signs of these conditions.
  7. Please apply sunscreen at least 15 minutes before entering the pool to minimize residues dissolving into the water, which can significantly affect water clarity and chlorine levels.

WADING POOL RULES

  1. An adult must be present and supervising at all times when their children are in the Wading Pool as there is No Lifeguard on Duty for this pool.
  2. No children over the age of 5 are allowed in the wading pool.
  3. Swim diapers are required for children who are not potty trained.
  4. Please remind children to use the bathroom frequently to prevent fecal contamination accidents.
  5. No jumping or diving into the wading pool.

PLAY STRUCTURES & TOYS

  1. For safety reasons, please do not allow children to climb on top of the playhouse; please ask them to use the dome shaped climber instead.
  2. Please do not allow older children to use toys intended for younger children as they may cause unintended damage.
  3. Adult supervision is recommended at all times on and around play structures and toys.

SAN JOSE CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT & PARKING REQUIREMENTS

The Westgate Cabana Club is subject to the rules and regulations of our Conditional Use Operating Permit, which restrict us from parking in the surrounding neighborhood. Our permit can be revoked if neighbors report cars parked in front of or adjacent to homes. Please note that on Maroel Drive, the street directly next to the Club, parking is only permitted along the section of curb directly adjacent to our fence, as the property line to the corner at Norwich Way is a restricted zone. Please use Baker School parking lots or street parking adjacent to school as we have an agreement with Baker to use these parking lots. Also, please note that the curb in front of the pool on Bucknall Rd. is for loading and unloading only. Please do not park in the loading or red zone. As a member you are responsible for ensuring that your guests also abide by these parking rules. You will receive a warning if you park in a restricted area and your license plate number will be recorded. After that you are at risk of losing your membership privileges. Please visit our website for more information on parking and to view the Parking Map.
